NYCCHCD CELEBRATES ITS 10-YEAR ANNIVERSARY WITH FUND RAISING CAMPAIGN AND SPECIAL EVENT
| The
Citizens' Committee is proud to announce that it is
marking its 10th Anniversary with two celebrations: a
special evening event and a fundraising drive to help
secure the organization's future. THE GOD SQUAD In keeping with its tradition of provocative and engaging programs, NYCCHCD will present an anniversary program on December 14th starring Monsignor Thomas Hartman and Rabbi Marc Gellman, known as The God Squad. This duo is widely known for entertaining and educating audiences with their witty and acerbic exchanges on bioethical and other matters. They are known not only on Long Island, where they minister to congregations, but also nationally for their popular cable TV show, “The God Squad.” The event will be held at 7:30 P.M. at the Ethical Culture Society building, 2 West 64th Street, New York City. Invitations will go out in late October. THE FUNDING APPEAL The other half of the celebration is the 10th Anniversary Campaign. Newsletter readers perhaps have already received a letter explaining the need for support and offering an opportunity to make a special anniversary gift. Dues and admission fees alone are not sufficient to keep the organization going. The goal of the drive is $200,000, of which nearly $150,000 has already been pledged. NYCCHCD hopes that its members and friends will give generously to enable the goal to be reached and the organization's future to be assured. |
THE
10-YEAR RIDE Ten years ago a group of like-minded citizens established this organization with the strong conviction that greater public understanding of the ethical dilemmas of modern health care was needed. Long on enthusiasm and short on funds, but with 501(c)(3) status in hand, the group embarked on a mission to educate the public with open, non-biased discourse on the issues. Over these 10 years, NYCCHCD has provided timely, relevant programs on managed care, physician-assisted suicide, end-of-life decision making and a multitude of other subjects. And it has run several foundation-funded projects on such issues as the doctor-patient relationship and the use of advance directives. It has been a productive first 10 years. Help celebrate our organization's success and protect its future with your ongoing friendship and support. You have made a difference in the past, and we hope that you will continue to do so in the future. And, by all means, mark your calendar for the evening of December 14th. |
