Looking Ahead

Always mindful that while we cannot "do everything" we can "do anything" in ranked order of need and importance. By honing our skills of listening and responding to the voices of the overlooked, underserved and unserved in our communities, we hope to help diminish the deplorable conditions and disparities in health care services they live with and tragically have come to accept as a way of life.

The following are a sampling of ongoing and potential programs both irresistible and digestible which will be featured as "daily specials" on our menu of community involvement.

Concentration on end-of-life issues with emphasis on advance care planning, palliative and hospice care for terminally ill patients, and support resources for their families, have been expanded to promote self-decision making for those with developmental, physical and mental disabilities.

Recent collaboration with colleagues advocating for citizens so disadvantaged, have energized our response with programs keenly sensitive to the stigmas and disparagements they endure. Creative additional plans are "in the works".

Similarly, we can not ignore calls for better management of chronic disease sent out by patients and those charged with caring for them. Beset with dealing with the fall-out from chronic illness, long term care and unmanageable problems of daily living, they must be accorded equal time and priorities addressing their specific needs of access to and availability of compassionate and understanding care. These fundamental failures and neglect to address unmet needs loom larger and more demanding with the growth of communities of aging populations. We will respond to them!
